Building Relationships At Wealthy Affiliate

If you think about it, you have relationships all around you.

I mean, every contact you have during the day is a potential relationship…not necessarily a Valentine’s Day love, but someone you can respect.  The key to success in life and online is taking hold of all the relationship opportunities and making the most of them.

If this is not making sense, then let me tell you a little story about how Kyle and Carson market online.

Have you ever heard of the term “building a list”?  If you haven’t, this is essentially building a list of prospective clients (like the email lists you are probably on right now).  This is one of the most powerful forms of marketing online and it all comes down to building relationships.

You see, if I don’t make a blog post to you every week and offer you some form of value…or as we like to call it, relationship building material, you are going to dump me as a friend.  That would hurt.  That is why I want to continue giving to you.  Giving you information about how you can start or improve your business online.

You follow?

Great!  The better you become at creating these relationships, naturally the more money you will make.  OR in other words, the more value you offer your friends the more they respect you in return.

In order to build a relationship with someone online you need to GIVE first, GIVE second, and maybe GIVE a third fourth and fifth time in order to ever see anything in return.  It is hard for people to trust someone that they do not know.

The same as meeting someone at the bus stop…if they ask for a quarter you are likely to say no.  If they help you read your map, recommend a few restaurants, and pick up your wallet for you that you dropped, you would be more than happy to flip this person a quarter.

That is because they have unassumingly built a relationship with you.  Not quite slight of hand, but in order to move a complete stranger to this TRUST zone you need to give…and likely more than once.

That is the first phase.  A little bit of trust will get a little…a quarter in this case.

Now what if this same person asked you for 5 bucks?

You would tell them to fly a kite!  A quarter was a small price to pay for the small relationship you had built.

In order for someone to get that five bucks off of you, they would need to give a bit more than directions and a restaurant recommendation…but what exactly would it take?

Think about this for a second…

This person would likely have to be a friend.  Maybe someone you had gone out to coffee (and maybe they even bought).  You would need to trust someone enough with your FIVE bucks to know that it would come around.

Now what if they asked to borrow your car?

You see, in order to receive big and better things in an environment (online or offline), you need to GIVE more and more.  The more you give, the more you can expect to receive.

This is truly a lesson in online marketing.  The more you GIVE, the greater the success.  Going against what many people believe (and in many cases, they have reason to), Internet marketing is not about scamming people.  It is not about lying to people to get their money.  It is not about expecting something for nothing.

It is all about building relationships.

The more credible, giving, and valuable you make your online experience the better the relationship becomes.

If I sent you $1,000 right now you would think I am pretty cool.  I would go as far as saying that you would consider me your good bud!

However, instead of money today I am giving you a lesson that will make you a lot more than $1,000.  By understanding that marketing is not about selling as much as it is about building a relationship, you are well on your way to a successful future at this.
