Create Viral Content for Better Marketing Results
What immediately pops into your mind with the word: Virus? Do you think if being sick, having some disease or illness? Or, maybe you have an online business, and you immediately thought of something going viral on the net, like content. Viral content is content that gets talked about and passed around without any help from the creator. No additional marketing is required by the creator.
This is word-of-mouth advertising on the web. It is a dream of pretty much every internet marketer online. This type of traffic volume will give most marketers severe bandwidth overage charges. Continue on reading and we’ll share some solid ideas that may help you achieve this kind of dream in your IM business.
Place your work in a visible place. Creating the work is not enough. You need people to know it exists. A really great way to accomplish this is to submit your work to social bookmarking sites. You can post your work to free services such as StumbleUpon, Digg and Reddit. People that are looking for the next “it” item are usually surfing these sites. It only takes about one or two of these people to click on your links and you go from undiscovered to well known. Don’t make it hard for people to find you. If people have to look for your work, it will never go viral.
Don’t get wrapped-up with advertising your products. Readers and viewers can spot an advertisement from miles away. It is incredibly rare that content meant to sell something goes viral. True though, your product could become popular, but there are almost always other reasons for that.
Try telling something about your self, and do it without trying to sell. If you want people to give you their attention, avoid coming across like you’re just making another sale. And let your site, other marketing and advertising devices do the selling for you.
Here’s a sneaky and cheap stunt… act like you’re completely clueless and idiotic about a subject.
Or, you can come clean and really tell them you’re clueless. Nothing wrong with admitting you don’t know something and asking for help. You will probably get more attention and comments if you’re upfront about your ignorance on something. Or, you can default to faking it and then say something totally off-base in your work. It’s not hard to see this being done all the time. Just make sure you can live with yourself if you resort to this tactic.
Remember, that you can’t predict what will happen with viral marketing. Making sure that you get as many eyes on your work as possible is the only thing that you can really do.
Creating quality products, quality content and doing your best is only half of what you need to win the game. From there you need to get people to want to pay attention to you and what you are offering. If you use these few hints and tips, your chances will be greatly improved.
